Biliary Stent with Anti-migration Flaps for the Palliative Treatment of Malignant Biliary Obstruction

What is the Purpose of this Study?

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how an investigational device called the Hanarostent works to relieve obstructive symptoms in patients with cancer who have a blockage in their bile duct caused by cancer. Stent placement is the standard of care for people who have biliary obstruction. A stent is a hollow tube made out of either plastic or metal which can provide relief from the blockage. The Hanarostent is a self-expanding metal stent that is covered with a silicone coating designed to prevent tissue or tumor from growing through the mesh of the stent. It also has metal flaps on the outside designed to prevent the stent from moving once it has been placed. Researchers will collect information about the patient’s medical history, the stent placement procedure, any complications, and how the device performs during a 6-month period.
