What is the Purpose of this Study?

The purpose of this study is to build an Asian American cohort across the United States for the study of health and cancer. A cohort study is a type of research study that enrolls healthy individuals, or individuals who are free of a certain health condition (in this case, cancer), collects data about them, and follows them over a period of time. Participants will be of Asian background, 40-75 years old when enrolled, currently living in the U.S. or U.S. territories, and never diagnosed with cancer (except non-melanoma skin cancer). The study will address multiple factors related to the risk of developing cancer and other health outcomes among Asian American populations across the country. The study will also serve as a comprehensive resource to better understand the causes of cancer, identify possible prevention measures, and ultimately achieve better health in diverse Asian American population groups.
