The purpose of this study is to understand the role of senescent cells. A senescent cell is a cell that ages and permanently stops dividing but does not die. Researchers want to learn how these cells work in fat tissue in relation to the aging process. Study procedures include blood and urine tests, in addition to a collection of a fat sample. The study aims to characterize cellular aging in terms of its presence and diversity in healthy human tissues. This multi-site project is part of a tissue mapping initiative. At Cedars-Sinai, researchers aim to examine the various cells in fat tissue to understand the ways in which aging cells affect the health of adults. Cellular senescence in fat tissue is thought to be an important part of diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Participants must be adults (age 18 and older).
