Overall research plan: We propose a prospective pilot study of GH replacement in patients with adult-onset CP and confirmed GHD beginning 3-6 months after surgical tumor resection. We hypothesize that early GH replacement in adult-onset CP will improve measures of body composition, glycemia, and hepatic steatosis as well as AT function. Aim 1: Measure effect of early GH replacement on body composition, glycemia, and hepatic steatosis. Hypothesis: GH replacement will reverse increased fat mass, insulin resistance, and NAFLD that develop early after surgery. Aim 2: Characterize effect of GH replacement on changes in adipocyte morphology and AT function. Hypothesis: GH replacement will reduce adipocyte size, adipokine secretion, and markers of inflammation and increase lipolysis in AT.
